I was reading this in today's paper. It made me think of doll names since I am past the age where I will be naming a real baby, LOL.

Top Girl Name - Emily (won't Molly be happy?)For the 10th year running, Emily has been the most popular baby girl name in the US. I knew Emily was popular, but I didn't realize just how popular!

Ava is the name of Reese Witherspoon's daughter. Maybe she started a trend?

HI,

My dd is named Hannah and her name has been in the top 10 since she was 6 months old (1997). We had no idea it was an up & coming popular name when we named her. [img]rolleyes.gif[/img] Ds was going to be Ava Rose (year 2000), but HE was not a SHE and the next child was a boy as well. We liked the fact that Hannah & Ava were both palindromes ( spelled the same forwards & backwards). Emma was the name we had for my 4th pregnancy, but that ended in an early miscarriage. [img]frown.gif[/img] I still think of that baby as my Emma. I bet my son's name is on the boy's top ten...Ethan. We knew that was a popular name when we named him (2003). My middle child is all on his own with the name Simon...suits him to a T.

I bought a baby name book for $1 at a used bookstore to help with future doll names. It has lists of popular names every decade from 1900 and lists of most popular names from different countries. Most of the book is just names and their meanings as well as variations of names. Although the "current list" is from 2003, for $1 it was still a great resource for doll names.

I didn't know anyone named Isabel when I named my 4th child that in 1999. She was named after my grandmother. Now her name is everywhere. The same thing happened with my son Aidan. His name is popping up more and more. All of those names on that list belong to little girls in Isabel's first grade class except Ava and Madison. I have never heard of any little girls with the name Ava(?)
In my kids school there are some girls names you see in almost every grade, such as:
